I chose Crystal because the moment I stepped onto the campus in 5th grade for my shadow day, I could immediately see what a unique community it was! Reflecting on my visit, one particular moment demonstrated this most clearly. I have been playing basketball since 2nd grade.  Every day at recess, the boys at my elementary school would play on the blacktop. My parents would encourage me to play with them so I could get more practice, but I never felt comfortable enough. However, during my shadow day, I ended up spending lunch playing basketball with my shadow buddy and some other 6th graders in the gym. I felt comfortable playing with kids I had only known for a few hours, whereas I had never wanted to play with kids I had known for years at my elementary school! I knew then that Crystal was where I wanted to be.

Many get the impression that a small school fosters a lesser social environment; however, this is the farthest thing from the truth for Crystal. When I came to Crystal, I was astounded by how fast I had built strong and deep relationships with my classmates. Also, despite being only 85 kids in my grade, the diversity within it is astounding in backgrounds and interests. Every person is so excited, and I am inspired by my peers every day. Another great thing about the small Crystal community is how interconnected the grades are. I have incredibly close friends who are seniors. That is unheard of anywhere else. This interconnectivity allows me to learn much from my friends in other grades. These things were evident when I toured campus for the first time. The guides had to do little to impress me. The school spoke for itself. There is something about Crystal that just made me smile.

My favorite thing about Crystal is the teachers. In my two years at Crystal, the teachers have stood out. Every day, when I am tired of going to school, the teachers at Crystal can keep me engaged and excited to learn. Although I enter school tired, I am willing to learn throughout the day because of the teachers who are excited to teach every day. Throughout the year, I see countless alums who return to Crystal to talk to their previous teachers, as they have played a big part in the journey of every student at Crystal. Adjusting to Crystal was difficult, but I always had teachers I could go to if I ever needed help.

Moreover, for all four years at Crystal, you have advisors there to help you through Crystal. This gave me more trusted adults at Crystal, making Crystal unique. All the teachers I have had so far have always gone above and beyond to help me if needed. This includes working with me after school or during office hours to ensure I can complete my work. My advisors also helped me adjust to Crystal and helped me select my classes for the upcoming years. Overall, the teachers at Crystal make this school unique, and I will remember them and everything they taught me as I go to college.

What sold me on Crystal was the culture of excellence and agency given to students in their own academic journey. Other schools seemed more traditional, but Crystal offered a chance to all students and gave them the resources they need to be the best version of themselves they can be both as a student but also as a person.  Combined with the strong student voice through committees, it felt like a place where I could truly explore my interests and make a difference. Furthermore, Crystal as a whole was a super welcoming community from the start which made it all the better and easier when I did decide to make the transition over here!

Interests/Activities: Robotics team, cross country, track, soccer, biotech club

I chose Crystal over other schools for two main reasons: a strong sense of community, and specialized programs. During my application process when comparing schools after touring, I felt that Crystal set itself apart. Similar to the other schools, when I visited Crystal I felt scared, and uncertain. Although these feelings were quickly alleviated when I met multiple Crystal students, who were enthusiastic to talk and include me. As I went through my tour I got to see the student social life, I noticed it was really strong and connected. I knew I wanted to be a part of this small, inclusive community. I was trying to avoid a school that had large amounts of social drama, which Crystal didn’t confer. In addition, the programs that Crystal offers are another reason I wanted to attend. Their in-depth robotics team, and large variety of clubs seemed great.

Interests/Activities: Crystal Robotics, Mock Trial, and Vantage Magazine

My favorite thing about Crystal is the endless opportunities! Crystal promotes a try-it-all attitude, encouraging students to join new clubs or pursue activities of interest. I joined the robotics team in my first year, knowing nothing about electronics or coding, but the team made me feel welcome and taught me everything I know. Whether it’s eating wet burritos after competition or shooting basketballs into the crowd, we’re like a family. The majority of Crystal’s clubs are “for students by students.” As a freshman, I was amazed by the broad spectrum of student-led organizations. The variety of options led me to try Mock Trial; I was in the Redwood City courtroom for half a year before a judge and attorneys. Previously, I never would have considered public speaking, much less debate. Crystal is unique in how everybody is supported in their pursuits, and these growth opportunities have shaped who I am.

I remember touring Crystal for the first time and loving the campus, especially the Mansion. But much more importantly, Crystal was the right fit for me. As a student with many different interests, I was looking for an academically strong yet balanced environment that would allow me to continue exploring my passions. I wanted to spend my next four years with supportive peers who could challenge me. I find that many of my peers are involved in multiple activities, and I often get to interact with them across sports teams, clubs, and classes. In addition, Crystal’s teachers give me personalized guidance and are always willing to help out. I chose Crystal because I felt I could thrive academically while pursuing my interests beyond classes.

One of the main reasons I chose Crystal is because of how diverse it is. Although each grade only has between 85-90 students, the diversity of students and interests allowed me to find a friend group that shares my interests and humor. As a second-generation Chinese-American, I was impressed with the Asian representation within the school. It has allowed me to build stronger friendships with many of my peers because of our shared experiences and culture.

My favorite thing about Crystal has to be the environment and community. It may sound cliche, but honestly, it is one of the reasons that I came to Crystal in the 9th grade and immediately felt at home. Even after moving across the state, I felt so at ease and welcomed by the students, families, and PAC members. Teachers and students alike are always excited to offer feedback and help whenever needed, and it is always a safe and educational space. Crystal shows how it is possible to have a great time while learning and shaping your future the way you want. The community is also so tight-knit, which is more of a positive, like a big, encouraging family. Every day, I feel so seen, and my immediate transition and acceptance from the community made me realize that picking Crystal was the right choice. And I am happy my family and I have been welcomed into such a loving environment.

What really compelled me to choose Crystal was the amazing community that surrounds you. Not only are the students incredible, but also the teachers and all PAC are all super supportive and understanding with you, and that is something many other schools don't have. Teachers will always find ways to help you out in hard situations and just want what's best for you, whether it's letting you push back a deadline or helping you understand a problem better. Not only are they supportive, but teachers do their best to make every class fun and engaging to help you learn t he material best. The PAC wasn't the only thing that convinced me to come to Crystal though. The students in this community were a major factor too. Everyone is so kind and inclusive, and it never feels as if you are being left out or alone. Someone will always involve you and make you feel included. As well as you own grade, Crystal provides so many opportunities to connect with other grades, allowing you to build bonds with everyone, no matter what grade, and all students are always kind and open to forming great bonds and friendships. The friendships I have made with the upperclassmen already are truly special to me and I can't wait to make more throughout the rest of my years at Crystal.

My favorite thing about Crystal is the culture. Even though Crystal offers terrific programs and classes, the students and staff allow it to thrive. The students' curiosity, drive, and the teachers' care and passion make this school a fantastic place to learn. The drive of the people around me allows me to push to do incredible things every day, and the flexibility and compassion shown by the PAC will enable me to get there. I don’t think Crystal would be what it is without the culture it has fostered, which is why it has always been my favorite part of this community.

My favorite thing about Crystal is its diverse student body. Not just because of the diverse backgrounds of its students but also because of students’ differing and overlapping interests. At Crystal, you will never be confined to just one activity. Crystal has a strong commitment to helping students participate in sports. Because I play soccer outside of school, I can get excused from Crystal’s physical education class to stay up with all my schoolwork. However, while Crystal is a school committed to supporting student-athletes, students are certainly not confined to just those two activities. The thing I love about Crystal is that we not only have student-athletes, but we also have musician-athletes, actor-athletes, actor-student body presidents, and the list goes on. Crystal supports its motivated students in their many interests and passions. The school integrates students’ activities into everyday life at Crystal, whether through the P.E. exemption or building time for clubs to meet once a week in our schedule. Crystal also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, such as robotics and student government, as well as opportunities to explore more bizarre interests. For example, through being a member of our school’s Asian Culture Club, I learned and performed a lion dance at Crystal’s annual Lunar New Year Banquet.  No matter what you enjoy, Crystal's “try it” culture will support you in pursuing any of your interests.

I chose this school because of the opportunities that I'm getting . I am a part of Peninsula Bridge, I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity, as Crystal works with programs like Peninsula Bridge. It was also the school that I saw had the most diversity, being able to explore more cultures and learn about other people's backgrounds. Out of all the other schools I was accepted to in 6th grade, Crystal was the school that had teachers who would get to know you, sit down with you, and help you learn in a way tailored to your needs.

I chose Crystal because of the rigorous academics and focus on athletics. The expertise of the faculty and the knowledge I have gained at Crystal, even though I have only been here for one year, are beyond anything I would have expected. I was uncertain of what attending Crystal would be like, knowing that academic life may be challenging and I wouldn't have as much free time, but I have found that there are many ways to stay flexible with your academic schedule and the teachers are very supportive and accommodating. Something else that stood out about Crystal for me was the athletic programs. Even though it is a small school, the accomplishments made in various sports are beyond amazing. I love to play volleyball and basketball, and even though I’m not the best at either, I have been able to participate in both and help develop the athletic program.

When I visited,  I was matched with a really kind shadow buddy and she introduced me to all of her friends and answered any questions I had. She showed me Crystal's warm environment, which focuses on inclusion and being true to yourself. I knew that regardless of people’s interests, everyone could find a place to belong. In addition, I could feel how much everyone enjoyed school. The students were passionate about learning, and I instantly loved their intellectual curiosity. I could tell that the people at Crystal appreciated knowledge for its own sake, rather than just the grades that came with it. Crystal’s core values, like “engaging with enthusiasm” and “balance,” also resonated with me. Not only could I be in a community that loves learning, but my interests outside of that would also be fostered.

I chose Crystal over other schools because of the community and opportunities it gives each student. Crystal ensures that each student is recognized and acknowledged through various activities throughout the year. The sports at Crystal were also a huge importance to me because the coaches and people were so nice. Personally, this year I was on the volleyball team, and the students I played with are the kindest people. We created a bond with each other and our coache,s which taught us a lot of respect and appreciation. Additionally, the lunches and food options at Crystal cater to various dietary needs, ensuring that each student has a meal. Finally, the teachers and the classes are very inclusive and fun. Each teacher makes sure that if you need them, they will help you. I believe that the teacher's connection with each student is very important, and it is one of the primary reasons I chose Crystal.

There are many schools in the area, but Crystal’s sense of community is unmatched. I came from a very small elementary school, so I was worried about the transition to a bigger school. However, after visiting and attending Crystal, I got to see how building friendships and connections are valued and cherished. It feels like everyone lifts each other up, even in a place as competitive as the Bay Area. Lastly, there are many opportunities, such as assemblies and class meetings, where the whole school comes together. This helps students from different grade levels to learn more about each other.

Before coming to Crystal, I was afraid of not fitting in as a Latina student who came from a public elementary school and who also received financial aid. However, my fear instantly disappeared when I joined Crystal as a 6th grader. I immediately felt a strong bond and connection with other students. I realized that all my peers in 6th grade were experiencing middle school for the first time, felt nervous, and, most importantly, excited for their future at Crystal. Upon entering middle school, it was evident that Crystal was actively trying to build a diverse community, which would provide many benefits. As a sophomore at the upper school, I feel included and accepted by all students at Crystal. I am also a part of Crystal FIRST, which Ms. Aguirre and Ms. Richardson Pagnia direct. In this program, I can meet with other students who will be the first in their family to attend college. I feel welcomed, seen, and safe in this community built for students like me.

My favorite thing about Crystal is that I have made friendships over my time at the school that I will cherish forever. Being among the few new freshmen entering the school was quite nerve-wracking, and I wasn’t sure if I would find my people quickly. However, I could not have been more wrong. Putting myself out there and talking to many different people allowed me to see the friendly student body at Crystal. Overcoming that first hurdle of introducing myself to a new person is a challenge I am so grateful that I took on. Even with a minor grade, I feel everyone can find their group and thrive at the school due to the balance of the class. I am so grateful to have said yes to Crystal because I wouldn't have met my best friends if I had not. I have many unforgettable memories with these kind people, and I know we will be friends forever. I know that whenever I am having a bad day, am stressed about an upcoming exam, or just need someone to talk to, I have empathetic people to go to for support. At Crystal, you can be yourself and be accepted by your peers. Real friendship is essential in life, and at Crystal, you will find that.

My favorite memory is how I joined Crystal in my sophomore year! Before being a Gryphon, I was concerned about adjusting to a new community as an incoming new student and a student who recently moved to the States. However, it was all possible because of how welcoming, kind, and caring our Crystal community is. When I joined new clubs sports teams, or even went into class, students and PAC members helped me to belong and make friends within seconds. Like Crystal's mission statement, "through transformative teaching," Crystal has made it clear that teachers are always here to support you no matter what; through 30-minute Office Hours sessions and plenty of resources, I can balance my academics and enjoy high school life!

My favorite thing about Crystal is the school's willingness to rebuild our lacrosse team. After Covid, the lacrosse program came to an unfortunate end due to the lack of players and coaches. However, at Crystal, students are encouraged to have a "try everything" attitude and try things even if they seem challenging. While completely restarting an athletic program from scratch seemed intimidating because of the small numbers, Crystal was more than willing and determined to restart the team. We introduced a new coach and laid the groundwork for a relaunched program; so many students who’ve never even touched a lacrosse stick before joined the team because they wanted to try something new. This attitude showed me how compassionate, hard-working, and encouraging everyone in our community is—this moment made me realize how proud I am to be a Gryphon, whether playing sports or in the classroom.

There were two main reasons why I chose Crystal: the community and the relationship with your teachers are unmatched. While shadowing a 6th grader, I could instantly tell that the community at Crystal was special.  Everyone seemed like they had a sense of belonging and it wasn’t cliquey like I had seen at other schools I visited. This sense of belonging has stuck with me for the past 4 years, I feel like I’m at home when I’m at school and I love spending time with the people around me. After hearing students on a panel and visiting classes when applying, I realized the relationship that the students have with their teachers at Crystal is remarkable. Coming from a public elementary school where I had around 30 kids in my class every year, the investment Crystal teachers have in their students’ academic and personal success really stood out to me.

While choosing a school, I sought an environment that prioritized academic excellence, personal growth, and competitive athletics. Crystal stood out because of its strong sense of community and dedication to fostering a supportive learning environment. The close community at Crystal mirrored a close-knit family, where teachers and students come together to create an enriching atmosphere. While visiting Crystal, I immediately noticed the support teachers gave to their students, and their genuine kindness was seen even during a passing period. I was drawn to the school's reputation for providing an education that focuses on academic achievement and encourages students to explore their passions and interests outside the classroom, which for me were in track and field, soccer, and writing. I knew that by choosing Crystal, I would join a community where I could thrive academically and socially.

My favorite thing about Crystal is how I feel cared for in every aspect of my life. First, all of the teachers are very approachable. They genuinely want you to succeed and are there to support you in every way, both academically and in any other questions you have about school or just life in general. For other academic help outside of the classroom, we also have advisors, college counselors, peer tutors, and a vast network of people to talk to in every possible situation. Second, Crystal has many resources to care for our health and wellness. We have great food available all the time, athletic coaches available for any questions about physical health or injuries, student-led conferences to check in on mental health and relationships, and counselors to make sure we have healthy relationships and are eating and sleeping well. Knowing that people are looking out for me alleviates so much stress because it means that I can worry less about what I am going to eat or what happens if I sprain my ankle and focus on my relationships, academics, and sports. Lastly, the Crystal student body is also incredibly supportive and welcoming. When I came to Crystal as a new 9th grader, I was worried about making friends and coming into a group of students who had already been friends for three years. It turns out I had nothing to worry about. Everyone was so excited to make new friends, and I soon realized that no new students were seen as outsiders. Crystal takes care of me academically, mentally, physically, and socially so that I can focus on being a good friend, student, and person.

My favorite thing about Crystal is the support from our Professional Adult Community. It's incredible how the adults at Crystal consistently extend a helping hand, whether breaking down a challenging problem, offering advice on personal dilemmas, or simply engaging in a conversation. The accessibility of our teachers during office hours creates an environment where seeking assistance feels natural, and each interaction leaves me with a greater understanding of the assignment at hand. Our teachers are genuinely interested in their students' academic journeys, as shown by the many resources that aid our educational and personal growth.

When I was looking for middle schools to attend, Crystal really stood out to me because, during my visit, every teacher I met was genuinely interested in me and had very engaging lessons that were both positive and fun. I also heard this from many of the ambassadors who explained how there is space for really great student-teacher relationships and so many opportunities to get help with work. As well as teachers, I experienced that all of the student representatives were incredibly kind and knowledgeable, and overall fun to talk to. So I ended up choosing Crystal because of the positive community of students and teachers, and the support network already there for students if they struggle. This made me more confident going into sixth grade and able to accept new challenges. The opportunity for such amazing relationships is also why I stayed at Crystal for high school.

Crystal immediately stood out to me because of the community. At all the admissions events I attended, it was clear that Crystal is a tight-knit, supportive community in which everyone truly cares about one another. I saw, and continue to see, people laughing with one another and helping each other out, even if they aren’t the best of friends. Another aspect that really stood out to me was the teachers. When I first visited Crystal, it seemed teachers were truly enthusiastic about what they were teaching, and they wanted to pass that passion on to their students. My experience at Crystal has only verified this. Every day, I see teachers not only instructing but also joking with and truly getting to know students. The teachers and community both made an incredible first impression on me, and continue to make Crystal a school I am proud to be part of.

Ask me about Crystal traditions! The traditions here are not only my favorite things about Crystal but also, in part, why I chose to come here! I have been a part of the Crystal community for about eight years since my sister began as a 6th grader. I experienced and anticipated, second hand, the many traditions throughout the year that would light her up. When I became a 6th-grade student, it was my turn to be part of the fun. I was finally able to be a part of the old traditions while now having a voice in creating some of my own.  I can happily talk about the many traditions I have experienced firsthand, like Snow Day, Lip Sync, Homecoming, and Elimination, which are my favorites! I can also talk about those I have witnessed secondhand, such as the Senior / Junior Kidnap, the Fine Arts Festival, and the Dance Sleepover.

I chose Crystal in 6th grade because I wanted to go to school where the teachers are passionate about what they teach and where I am encouraged to try as many new things as possible. At the open house I attended, I heard students describe becoming “the best version of myself,” precisely how I would describe my Crystal experience. Through middle and high school, Crystal has been a place where I can explore new things without fear of judgment from my peers. For example, in middle school, I tried out for and got a role in the school musical, my first time trying out acting. Because of that experience, I signed up for the Mock Trial team in high school. Being part of that team and attending competitions has been one of my favorite experiences at Crystal, and I wouldn’t have tried out if I hadn’t stepped out of my comfort zone in middle school. This supportive environment has allowed me to thrive outside of the classroom. I also chose Crystal because they had a strong tennis program, one of my favorite sports. Through being a part of this program, I have not only improved my tennis skills, but I have also made close friendships across grade levels. It’s always a great feeling when my teammates and friends cheer for me after a near point. These are just a few examples of how Crystal has helped me become the best version of myself, precisely what I was looking for when I chose the school.

When I was in 8th grade, looking at high schools, Crystal stood out because the community was incredibly supportive and sweet, so I knew I had to apply. Crystal’s community is honestly so incredibly unique that it is difficult to describe. The best words I can use to describe it is supportively tight-knit. Having a class of 90 students means you get to know them very well, and that creates a very supportive environment because everyone looks out for one another.

Interests/Activities: I was the Mech Lead for Crystal Springs Robotics Team 4990 this year. I was responsible for designing, prototyping, and fabricating the intake, indexer, and shooter subsystems. I also trained incoming 9th grade new to robotics using various power tools and best practices for designing and manufacturing the subsystems.  I am also the leader of the Design and Engineering club. In this club, we offer students the chance to practice their design and engineering skills through inter-club building competitions. This semester, we have held a catapult-building competition with around 15 students.  Additionally, I am a member of the STEM Invention Studio. This year, I participated in the South School STEAM Day, where Upper school students go to South Elementary School and conduct science experiments with elementary schoolers.

My favorite spot on campus is the nook in the back of the library. I enjoy staying in this library nook during office hours and after school. Often, my friends will also be there with me. I appreciate my classes at Crystal, but sometimes they can feel hectic. Comparatively, the nook is peaceful and calm, which allows me to relax after a day at school. It is also a great place to study for classes. The books that line the library add to the "atmosphere" of the nook, getting me into the zone for focusing on academics. The library, in general, is a place for students to prepare and study for assessments. When the weather warms in the Spring, the nook looks even better as the sun shines through the stained-glass windows, casting a warm light across the library. The Mansion’s historical architecture also surrounds the nook. It's fantastic to see the physical representation of the mansion's history and legacy, and it makes me feel grateful for the opportunity to take classes and study in a mansion, which is a unique experience.

A “so Crystal” moment was when I was studying after school with my math teacher. We had just gone over a tricky subject, and I had been sick for the past few days. I was organizing my notes and talking to my teacher when I informed her I had an out-of-school volleyball practice until 10 pm. It was six already, so my teacher asked if I had eaten anything. When I told her I had forgotten my dinner at home, she quietly got up and walked away instead of saying pity. I was initially confused, but half a minute later, she returned with carrots, hummus, two cookies, and a San Pellegrino that she had grabbed from the teachers' lounge. While my teacher played it off as insignificant and casual, the surprise dinner made me realize how caring the staff are at Crystal. My teacher stayed 3 hours after school had ended to help me excel in class while ensuring I had enough sustenance for a 2-hour practice, ultimately illustrating how the faculty at Crystal prioritize balance and kindness for their students.

Interests/Activities: At Crystal, I'm engaged in a diverse array of activities that are both rewarding and help uplift the spirit of the school. I am passionate about sports and am a member of two sports teams, Varsity Football and Varsity Basketball. Both teams are competitive, and my most immense joy is practicing with the teams every day and playing in the games. Another fun activity at school is supporting our entire athletic and arts community. I have thoroughly enjoyed cheering for all of my classmates from the sidelines or the audience at countless sporting events, dance festivals, musicals, plays, and concerts. Also, I enjoy writing for the Gryphon Gazette, and my column is focused on sports. I am a co-leader for the South Asian Affinity Space, and since 9th grade, I have served on the E&I Committee. At Crystal Middle School, I was Student Council co-president and spoke on the Open House Panels at Admission Events, which I loved and enjoyed. I was also a Crystal Ambassador in Middle School, and I enjoyed talking about the school to visiting families and students. There are many leadership opportunities at Crystal, and each one is advantageous.

A time that was “so Crystal” was when our Girls Varsity Basketball team won CCS and made it to states, and how the whole community rallied around us and supported us on our journey to the NorCal finals! I’ll never forget when we were told we would have to travel five hours to play another team in the middle of a snowstorm after upsetting the 2nd ranked team in D5. However, the athletic department quickly devised a plan, and we ended up traveling through the snow to win the game! Even though most of our fans couldn’t be there, we still had support from parents and many at home who were watching the live stream and yelling at their computers whenever we shot a three or blocked a shot. Nevertheless, in the NorCal finals at our home gym, our fans showed up to support! Not only were their Crystal students, PAC, and parents, but grandparents, neighbors, friends, and colleagues came out to cheer us on. I can never forget when I walked onto the court to tip off the ball and saw how packed the gym was (they even had to bring in two extra bleachers to fit all the fans). People I had never met were cheering for me, yelling, “GO CRYSTAL,” and clapping! It was incredible to see, and later, I thought how lucky I was to experience that encouragement from our Crystal community!

I chose Crystal over other schools because of many things, but especially because of the encouragement to try new things, the incredible sense of community, and the relationships students have with teachers. Even if you don’t know someone well, everyone is so friendly and encourages you to try things that you haven’t done before. It’s the same with the faculty, they are friendly and willing to help you improve your work, which makes students comfortable to approach if they have an issue. When I toured Crystal, I saw all of this through people on the field playing different sports, groups of friends laughing all around the school, and students problem solving with teachers in the math classroom.

Before applying to middle schools, I knew something I wanted to see while searching was a strong and welcoming community. Throughout elementary school, my friend group went through multiple changes that never felt right so I was looking for a culture in which I belonged. Immediately as I arrived on campus to shadow the school, I was greeted by many happy faces from faculty and students. My shadow buddy made me feel so comfortable with everyone so I had no time to feel shy or nervous. I met new people in each class who shared stories from Crystal traditions like snow days and lip sync. I felt so excited that I wanted to start immediately and knew that Crystal would be the perfect fit.

Interests/Activities: I am involved in debate, robotics, tennis, and the instrumentals program.

I chose Crystal because of the multiple opportunities to be a leader in our close-knit community, such as a club, the student government, sports, and more. The Crystal community is very nurturing and encouraging as we learn amidst laughter and smiles. Another reason I chose Crystal was because of the quality of teaching here. Teachers are very communicative and give prompt, helpful feedback when asked to; students can use office hours to ask questions and email to arrange a time to meet/ask questions. Additionally, Crystal corresponds with my interests: our robotics team competes regularly, and we have shop hours every day after school. Also, our debate team competes monthly. Both of these teams are a great way to interact with students from other grades. Finally, our robust CADS and music programs help me dive deeper into my interests in computer science and music… and the food is great! ;)

I chose Crystal over other schools because the relationships within the community are very prevalent and close here at Crystal. The teachers genuinely care about the students and encourage brave conversations and questions. The small community enables us to become close with people not only in our grade but in other grades as well. The small class size also provided me with more individualized attention from my teachers, which in turn increased my confidence in all my classes. Not only that but at my first Crystal visit, I was welcomed by students and teachers alike. This exemplifies one of our core values: fostering kindness and inclusion. The multiple opportunities in extracurricular activities drew me even closer to Crystal. I found multiple passions, and I’m constantly finding more and learning about myself through that process. I feel at home at Crystal and know I can be my full, authentic self.

I chose Crystal because of the community and the curriculum. When I went through the application process, it was made clear to me how much the community cares and supports each other. When I shadowed, I saw how people would talk to each other with respect and how everyone had a friend to sit with, regardless of their class. The teachers provided interesting and informative lessons that I enjoyed greatly. This has not changed today! Students help each other with homework, there are people talking in the halls, and no one is left out! I love my classes and I feel like I am genuinely learning in class. I have a wonderful friend group who are kind and uplifting. I never feel sad or alone with them! The teachers genuinely care about the material they teach and make school really enjoyable!
