President’s Letter

I would like to thank this year’s Executive Committee for all of their hard work:  Rula Tamer, Anne Tang, Christine Stiles, Karen Griggi, Ted Murguia, Heidi Hogan, Jude Thornton-Clark and Nicole Lum. Each of you was thoughtful, efficient, supportive, creative and dedicated, and it was a pleasure to serve with you.

Thanks also to Amy Richards and Andrea Edwards for their support of the Parent Association this year. We are fortunate to work with such an accessible, enthusiastic and responsive administration.

Our final Parent Association General Meeting, the Spring Luncheon, was held on May 4th. Thanks to Peggy Dow and Tiffany Woodruff for transforming the Mansion Ballroom into a lovely luncheon setting. Our speakers, Amy Richards and CSUS Board of Trustees President Dan Rudolph, gave a fascinating update on the status of the growth initiative. Thanks also to Linda Feng, Nominations Committee Chair, and her committee, for their diligent work to bring us the excellent slate of Executive Committee members for the 2011-2012 school year. The slate was unanimously approved at the meeting. Congratulations and thanks to all the new officers for their commitment to the Parent Association and the CSUS community.

Thanks to Catherine Park and Carri Markoulis, chairs of the Faculty Appreciation Committee, for hosting the final coffee cart on May 24th.

Several very important events are in the final planning stages. I want to thank the chairs of these events, who are still hard at work as I write. Lori Livingston and Anne Rudolph are putting the finishing touches on a glorious Senior Luncheon, which will take place Thursday, May 26th. Christine Kosturos and Marianne Arbeed are crafting a memorable and exciting Senior Grad Night for our 12th graders and Lilli Rey is doing the same for our 8th graders. Thank you all so much for your efforts!

Special thanks to all the parents who volunteered throughout the year in any capacity, including all the hard-working Parent Reps. My thanks to all of you who helped in one way or another to continue to make this school the wonderful community that it is. It was a pleasure to serve as President this year and to learn just how talented and generous you all are.
