Recently, in Mrs. Hunt's US History class, students were given 45 minutes to create an artistic way of presenting the alphabet soup of New Deal agencies to their classmates. This assignment produced several creative responses, including a rap written by Crystal students "Downie and Da Kid."
The CCC was by FDR,
it was designed to take people far.
it provided many unskilled manual jobs,
wasn't for no rich snobs.
Unskilled jobs all around,
developing natural resources we're 1920s bound.
It was part of the new deal designed for young men,
to help them get on their feet again.
The PWA could help build a bridge or dam,
thanks alot Uncle Sam!
Stabilizing industry everywhere,
really showed the people they care.
Yo yo yo holla on da track,
PWA bringing America back.
Saving money for the poor,
don't have to worry anymore.
The AAA restricted agricultural production a lot,
Gave our economy a fighting shot.
Reducing crop surplus
To get America out of a fuss.
The FTP funded the arts,
giving people lots of smarts
Employed out of work artists to help the poor;
Made them stop thinking of their sad lives anymore.
Overall FDR was the best!
Put people's minds to rest.
He installed a New Deal
Trying to bring back that 1920 feel.
