Meet the Coaches: Cindy Shanholt

Cindy Shanholt has been at CSUS for about half her life.   She is an Alumna, former head of the Alumni Association, Parent, and in her 20th year of teaching, coaching, advising and choreographing; Cindy has worn many different hats at CSUS.

Her three children all graduated from CSUS (Vandy ’03, Callie ’05 and Ellie ’08) and she has successfully shepherded them on to higher education at Middlebury College, Pepperdine University and Pomona College respectively.

Cindy has coached MS Girls Softball (1 League Championship), MS Girls Basketball (1 League Championship), MS Girls Soccer, 6th Grade Girls Soccer, MS Boys Soccer (2 League Championships) and Varsity Girls Soccer (NCS Finalist).  In addition, Cindy has choreographed the HS spring musical with Maggie Fongheiser since 1990 [Cindy and Maggie have been friends since they were 16].

Cindy’s academic area is our Mind/ Body curriculum.  She teaches PE activity classes to the Upper School as well as Fitness Labs to the 9th and 10th graders.  She also is a 10th grade/ 11th grade advisor [ask her advisees about Cindy’s oatmeal cookies!].

Her favorite part of teaching at CSUS is witnessing the students’ progress in their fitness, both physically and in understanding of concepts, watching the wonderful talents come together on the musical stage, and beating Menlo [it used to be University].

Having just returned from a sabbatical, Cindy is rested, reenergized, and thrilled to be back with the students.
