Junior-Senior Kidnap: 70s Flashback!

This past Friday, the Junior Student Council organized a CSUS tradition: Junior-Senior Kidnap. Every year, the Junior Student Council sets up a surprise day of activities where the juniors take out the seniors and parade them in ridiculous costumes based on a theme. Our theme was 70s/disco!

At the beginning of the day, my math teacher put a scarf on the kangaroo statue near the Commons. This was our code to say that kidnap was on!

So my friend and I went around to different classes and told the juniors and seniors that there was a “meeting” in the conference room. One person even asked, “Am I in trouble?!” But...

...once everyone heard that kidnap was happening, they were extremely excited – some even got out of a physics quiz and an in-class essay!

There was chaos in the conference room as the seniors tried on their costumes. I dressed up my senior in a disco queen jumpsuit! It was embarrassing for the seniors, but they absolutely loved it. Then during advisory, we paraded them in the theatre with 70s music in the background as the entire school watched. Even some of the teacher chaperones got dressed up!

To begin the day of 70s activities, we spent time at the Redwood City Roller Rink. I have never roller-skated before so I did not realize how difficult it was! Every person fell down a few times but I fell down probably twenty times! Even so, my friends and I had tons of fun as we roller-skated hand in hand with disco music in the background. My teachers, though, were much better at roller-skating than any of us!

At one point, we even danced the “Cha Cha Slide.” Now this may seem easy, but with roller skates, it is a completely new challenge. Many of us got up to dance, falling a lot of the time, but it was great.

I am so glad that I was a part of planning such a wonderful day and I cannot wait until next year’s Junior-Senior Kidnap!
