Meet the Crystal Lizard, Frankie!
Forget therapy dogs, Ms. Souza’s AT Bio and Cog Neuro classes have a much cooler resident, a pet lizard named Frankie! Frankie isn’t your average classroom pet, though. She is a nine-year-old blue tongued skink, named for her uncanny resemblance to a hot dog, Frankie for “frankfurter.” But Frankie’s got more to offer than just comedic value. Expected to live 30 years, Frankie is a fixture in the classroom and Ms. Souza’s Advisory. Ms. Souza, a self-proclaimed lizard enthusiast, chose Frankie because she is both large enough not to get lost and has a “chill” factor that students find calming. Students are welcome to swing by the US Science Wing to take a peek at Frankie enjoying her heat lamps.
