Middle School Community Engagement

Crystal's year-long Community Engagement program takes Middle Schoolers into the field to experience local non-profits first-hand, with each grade following its own theme.
During the 2025–26 school year, sixth graders explored Sustaining Ecosystems — native species restoration with San Bruno Mountain Watch, watershed pollution and beach cleanup in Half Moon Bay, and invasive species removal at nearby Waterdog Park and Lake. Seventh graders focused on Ability and Access, including service dog training at the National Institute for Canine Service and Training, disability rights and advocacy with the Center for Independence of Individuals with Disabilities, and working with children with special needs through our partnership with Special Olympics Northern California. Eighth graders worked with local partners across three themes: housing security, immigration justice and refugee rights, and food justice.
