    STEM Symposium

    Led by presidents Isabel J '24, Angelina C '23, Saskia B '24, and Lachlan G '24, the US STEM Invention Studio hosted their second annual STEM Symposium on March 17. With an overall turnout of over 150 attendees, an on-campus food truck, high-caliber project presentations from MS and US students, and an inspiring panel/Q&A with industry professionals, this year's event was a great success!

    MS Students Curate Historic Islamic Innovations

    Seventh grade History students re-created favorite innovations from Islamic history as part of a larger classroom museum project. After learning about various historical Islamic innovations, students had to build and curate a museum piece to be used as a tool to teach fellow classmates about their chosen innovation. This task required students to understand what is the chief significance of their chosen innovation. Or, more plainly put, what makes it "cool." Students then had to hone their communication skills and embrace our core value of scholarship by becoming teachers themselves.

  • Bring Change to Mind Club

    Bring Change to Mind Week is celebrated nationwide at BC2M schools and promotes mental health, well-being, and fostering stronger ties to the community. This year's theme was Cultivating Connections which is especially important in this era of social media and Zoom where our online connections often take the place of in-person interactions.     Zoetic Tapestry Project presents Crystal Visual Art Show in Downtown San Mateo

    The Zoetic Tapestry Project hosted a show of US Visual Arts students at The Kohl Pumphouse Gallery in downtown San Mateo. The show featured work from painting, drawing, photography, and graphic design students centered around the theme of reconnecting to nature.

    Lunar New Year Banquet

    Crystal’s annual Lunar New Year Banquet rang in the Year of the Rabbit with a celebration to remember! Our community came together to share traditions from seven different regions of Asia that celebrate the Lunar New Year. The evening included delicious food sampling, a stunning Pan-Asian Fashion Show, and dances put together by our students.

  • Mummies in the Classroom

    MS teachers use science and history to learn about the mummies of Ancient Egypt. History teacher Adric Alvaro assigned students to acolyte groups to follow and learn about specific Pharaohs while imagining what it would be like to have been a real acolyte of the time to learn about history. At the same time, students are putting their science hats on with science teacher Elyse Debuysser to experiment with the process of mummification. Students are using real mummification techniques to test what happens to an apple as it decomposes.
