Homing Pigeons
At a true One Crystal moment, Head of Middle School Jess Dang, and Head of Upper School Jennifer Carleton, came together to release the newest members of the Crystal community, a homing pigeon flock. Soon, these pigeons will carry messages between the Upper School and Middle School campuses, connecting our community in a unique and meaningful way.
Crystal's homing pigeons build both community and curiosity. The birds create a living bridge between our two campuses: students can release pigeons during special events, celebrations, or projects and watch them return, making our community connections visible and exciting. Academically, pigeons open doors to real-world science: students learn about animal behavior, navigation, history, and migration, while applying math, data collection, and critical thinking. It’s a unique blend of tradition, hands-on learning, and school spirit—all through the wings of our pigeons.
