An Independent Day School for Grades 6-12

Building Community

Because we believe that the Crystal experience includes the parents and guardians of our students, we have created many opportunities for them to get involved and engaged with the Crystal community.

All parents and guardians are members of the Crystal Family Association (CFA) whose mission is to build a strong and inclusive community at Crystal. The CFA connects parents and guardians by hosting events throughout the year, organizing community service opportunities, and promoting parent education series.

In addition to the CFA, parents and guardians may also join the Gryphon Club or the Arts Collective. The Gryphon Club builds school spirit by supporting Crystal athletes, promoting Crystal gear and organizing for the annual athletics banquet and golf tournament. The Arts Collective provides support to the various arts performances, concerts and the annual Arts Festival.

As do most independent schools, Crystal relies on the generous investment of volunteer time and financial resources from our families. The Crystal Fund, Crystal’s annual giving program, helps bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating each student. The CFA hosts the Crystal Fest event to raise funds to support the Faculty Recruitment and Retention Fund and the Financial Aid Fund.

List of 8 items.

  • Annual CFA Fundraiser

Crystal Fest is the Crystal Family Association’s annual community-wide fundraiser that brings together parents, guardians, alumni, faculty/staff and friends of Crystal to support the Faculty Recruitment and Retention Fund and the Financial Aid Fund. Crystal Fest themes have included The 50s, Great Gatsby, The Crystals (Oscar-themed awards event), and Crystal Palooza Music Festival. Crystal Fest is a Crystal tradition and a great way to get involved, whether volunteering or attending the event.
  • Family & Friends Day

Family and friends of current students are invited to attend a full day of classes to experience a day in a life of a Crystal student. Crystal welcomes parents/guardians, grandparents, aunts, uncles to attend classes alongside their students to observe and participate in their learning.
  • Golf Tournament

The Doc Ingersoll Memorial Golf Tournament is organized by the Gryphon Club and is a wonderful way for past and present members of the Crystal community to come together to support the school.

Royal “Doc” Ingersoll was a member of the Crystal faculty for 21 years. He was an extraordinary teacher, mentor and coach as well as a passionate golfer. This tournament honors his commitment to education, both in athletics and academics, and provides an opportunity for families to build connections and community.

Crystal parents and guardians are invited to attend the Common Ground Speaker Series free of charge which is presented by a coalition of Bay Area schools that have joined together to enhance parent education in our communities. Its goal is to bring nationally recognized speakers to our school communities. Crystal is a founding member of the Common Ground group, which is supported by the Crystal Family Association.
